About the final project for: Compositional Techniques for Graphic Design

Compositional Techniques for Graphic Design

“We have reached the end of the road. I hope you have learned a lot and that you enjoyed the course as much as I did. Next, we are going to review the different phases to follow to develop the final project: For your final project, remember that you can choose any piece of design, regardless of complexity or scope of use. Also, you can take up a project you already have and work on an adjustment or redesign based on the concepts you have learned during the course. Go ahead and tackle a project of a certain complexity, such as a magazine, a small brand identity or a website, so you will put your knowledge and creativity to the test. References First, look for some references to inspire you and analyze the elements that compose them and how they use the composition. Make a mood board to define the elements of your design and the main lines to take into account.

Sketches Then make sketches in which you can explore the simplicity of its structures and the balance of its elements as we saw in Unit 4.
Design It determines a visual center of interest for the piece, prioritizes its components and seeks to achieve harmony and unity through the repetition of some characteristics.
Grid and final details Finally, you can apply some composition grid to your work to refine every last detail as we saw in the lessons of Unit 5.
Your finished project Share your final project with all of us by clicking on "Create your project". Remember to share both the final result of your design (all the pages of a report, a website ... the project you have chosen to do) and the steps that have led you to it. In addition to the project itself, it would be great if you showed a picture of each step and added a brief explanation about what you have done in each one. In Unit 5 I leave you two PDFs with the two reports that I have been working on during the course so that they can serve as a reference when presenting your project.
Remember that if you have any questions, you can post them on the forum. I ask for your patience, I am sure that I will be able to address everyone's concerns. I also invite you to interact with your colleagues and pay attention to their queries, in them you can often find inspiration and answers to your own doubts, and even the possibility of helping out. Thank you for choosing this course from the extensive Domestika offer, it has been an honor for me to share my knowledge with you. I am looking forward to seeing and commenting on your project. Let's keep in touch! ”

“Final project Now we are at the end of this Domestika course. Let's see a summary of everything learned so far. First I introduced myself and showed you some of my work to later define what composition is and how to deem it well resolved. We also saw some of the compositional singularities from different areas of design. Then we listed the key elements of any composition to later define the relationships that exist between these elements. We also talked about symmetry and asymmetry, the rule of thirds and the golden ratio. Finally, we understood proportional scales and the importance and us...”
