About the final project for: Visual Identity Design for Events

Poster Design

“We have reached the end of the course! I hope I have helped you and taught you everything you need to be able to develop a visual system for an event, whether virtual or face-to-face. Before saying goodbye, I would like to recap the process to follow. After reviewing the brief and choosing the main concept, create a mood board with a combination of images and multimedia resources.

Collect all the information that the production gives you, so that you can have the full breakdown of data, dates, times and material concerning the promotion of the event and that you must include in the pieces you make. Try to be orderly and methodical with the information in order to avoid errors and lost working time, as well as being fussy about solving your doubts with the production. With a clearer identity, start by putting together your main poster and do not rule out having a series of posters in order to consolidate the graphic line. Prioritize the spaces necessary for the elements in the composition to breathe.
Propose graphic solutions according to the situation and also explore the possibilities of the venue to intervene in them. Create referential mock-ups that, depending on the type of event and budget scheme, will help to better understand the physical adaptations that have been requested.
Finally, consider efficiently transferring visual identity to digital formats.
Always think about your target audience and how they might react to your proposal. Also, remember to organize all the information you have so that you can have everything at your fingertips.
Do not forget to always consider the client's budget and their needs to make the appropriate adaptations to the case.
And above all, be sure to have fun in the process and explore your creativity to a great extent. Remember that the added value will make attendees find a sense to connect with the event and create incredible memories. Offering your creativity is the best solution to create experiences.
I hope this course has helped you face a high caliber project or at least get closer to it. I will be super excited to see the result of your final project, so do not hesitate to share it for all the other students to see: remember that feedback and the "trial and error" philosophy is necessary to overcome our skills and be better designers . Finally, don't forget to do your homework, share your progress and participate in the forum. Any questions, I will be pending to answer you and solve all your doubts. See you on the forum! ”

“Final project We reached the end of the course. You are ready to start your project. Before saying goodbye, we will review the steps that I recommend you follow. First, map an event that you would like to address and identify what makes it special. Check your target audience, your visual proposals and way of communicating in general. Look at their connection process and think about how you would approach it. If your client is real, be sure to give them a brief with well posed questions to solve all your doubts, including needs and deliverables list. The brief will be your definitive roadmap...”

What started out during college as a way of getting more people to come to his film society ended up solidifying Alexandro Valcarcel's passion for graphic design. Poster design went from being just a hobby to a successful career. Since 2016, he has been head of design at Teatro La Plaza (Lima, Peru) and is also currently a design consultant for its theater festival, Sala de Parto, which involves creating proposals, posters, and visual identities.

He has also exhibited in and been selected for festivals such as the Havana International Film Festival and the Rzeszow Theater Poster Biennale in Poland. Some of his works have been published in graphic design books by publishers such as Sandu/Promo Press, Hightone, Bloomsbury, and Capsules Books, while others have given a voice to social protests in his country. In addition, he has developed projects for clients such as Damiani Editore (Italy), the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the Goethe Institut, the ICRC (International Committee of the Red Cross), IOM (UN International Organization for Migration), the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, Al Este Film Festival, and various theater and film directors across Peru.
