“Tesserae Cutting In this lesson we'll be looking at cutting our tesserae. I've got my nippers here and some tiles, and we're gonna go through a few simple cuts to get the hang of it. The first cut we're going to make will be to cut our tesserae in half. I'm just gonna mark it. Don't mark the tile yourself, I'm just showing you where the intended cut wants to be. We're gonna cut the tile directly in half. And the way we do that is to hold the tile between our thumb and forefinger, like this. And then with our nippers we're going put them just on the tile. After being asked by a client to create a mosaic in 1990, it unknowingly changed the course of his career.

His work has received recognition from organizations like The National Terrazzo & Mosaic Association of America, The Society of American Mosaic Artists, The Prix Picassiette in Chartres, France, and The Worshipful Company of Tylers and Bricklayers in the UK.
