About the final project for: Cake Design: Modern Decorating Techniques

Cake Design: Modern Decorating Techniques

“Thank you for taking this course, I feel lucky to have shared it with you! Now you know a little more about me and my life story, you also learned about the story of how my blog "Histories of the Deer" was born. I promise you that in the world of confectionery you can find a number of happy moments and experiences that you cannot imagine, it is a matter of finding and following your love and passion for it. My challenge is always to inspire and encourage people to develop their creativity in the kitchen, mixing smells, flavors, textures and many colors. I hope you have enjoyed the entire course and are encouraged to create your own projects. The possibilities are endless once you know the techniques, how about a cake in only shades of blue with yellow spheres for your friend's birthday, or in light shades with white spheres for your best friend's wedding, the options are limitless, but remember, they should always have something of you and your own stamp. I encourage you to create your own cake now! Do not worry, you will not go alone on this path, I will be with you step by step. I share with you the series of steps that you can follow and that I would love for you to share with me about your project. The references Start looking for references that give you an idea of the style and colors that you will use in your cake. Remember that they do not necessarily have to be references to other pastels, you can be inspired by clothing colors, by the music you listen to, by what colors make you feel, don't limit yourself!

The sketch Create your color palette, based on an internet reference or a pre-existing palette, you can also create your own. Afterwards, sketch your cake either manually or digitally. Remember to design both the interior and the exterior, specifying measurements and decorative elements. Pay special attention to your measurements because you will have to take care not to pass them during the whole process.
Everything before baking! Prepare the materials and tools that you will use to execute your design, make sure you have everything on hand. Continue to make the mise en place of your cake recipe, then make the shake by mixing the ingredients and follow the recipe step by step. Divide the shake into three equal parts, apply the color and distribute it in your prepared molds. Are you ready to bake?
Get your cake ready Let your cake layers rest, then you will level them and refrigerate them. Make the mise en place of your buttercream and apply flavor and color to half of this cream. Now, fill and stack the layers of your cake. Proceed to make the crumb cover and insert your support toothpick. Smooth the surfaces and make sure your cake is straight and firm, once you are sure it is firm then now you can refrigerate it.
The marbling Divide the rest of your cream into four equal parts and apply color to them. Remember to be guided by the color palette that you have chosen previously. Prepare your acetate sheet with the corresponding measurements and disinfect it before use. Apply the marbling effect with the cream on the acetate and then cover the cake. Refrigerate for at least two hours. Once your cake is cold, remove the acetate that is covering it, polish some imperfections and define the edges of the cake. Refrigerate again until your decorations are done.
Your decorations Melt the chocolate that you are going to use to make the spheres. Divide it into 2 parts and apply fat-soluble coloring to the chocolate. Mix very well. Paint the interior of all the semi-sphere molds with pearl toner. Apply the first layer of chocolate on the molds, allow the chocolate to harden and apply another layer. Try to define your edges and that the chocolate layer is even. Once the chocolate is hardened, carefully unmold the spheres. Heat the edges in a hot skillet and join them together. Large spheres will need some additional support. Finish by sealing with a little white chocolate.
The last details Place the spheres on your cake, following the flow and idea of the original sketch. It starts with the largest and ends with the smallest. Remember to use a little chocolate on each one to make sure they won't fall off the cake. Prepare your black and white paint, mixing a little coloring with some alcohol or essences. Use stiff bristle brushes to make some expressionist splatters on the cake. Finally, apply the edible gold leaf on some points, this will give it more life and light.
You already have your cake! Remember that pastry is not just mixing a couple of ingredients and voila, it is a very personal process that can help us exploit all the creativity and art that is in each of us and that, in addition, it is edible and will always accompany us in Best moments. I hope my experience has helped you. For me, it is important to help you, be there for you and create a supportive community in which we can learn from each other, but I also want to know your result, your creation, show me your cake! Do not forget to upload your final project to the forum so that I can give you feedback, if you wish also share it on Instagram using the #historiasdelciervo_domestika and do not forget to tag us @Historiasdelciervo and @Domestika . To finish, I can only thank you once again for allowing me to share this time with you, I really hope you take advantage of the course and that pastry is a great passion for you. Remember that practice makes perfect, do not stop learning every day, so you will be able to improve yourself. It has been an honor for me to be your teacher, I will be waiting to see the cake you created. See you on the forum! ”

“Final Project Now we're at the end of the course and we must review all the steps so you can artistically decorate your cake. To start, you have to look for references to give you an idea of the style and colors you will use on your cake. Then you have to make a sketch. You can do it in an analog or digital way, just remember to design the interior and exterior. In this sketch you must define the color palette, the height and the decorations you'll integrate in your final project. Next you will make the "mise en place" of your cake recipe so you can make the smoothie by mixing the ingredien...”
