About the final project for: Concept Art: Character Design & Worldbuilding

Concept Art: Character Design and Worldbuilding

“Congratulations! You have reached the end of this Domestika course. Thank you so much for taking part and I hope you've enjoyed it. It's now time to work on your project. This could mean finishing the character you started by completing the course tasks or making a brand new project! Either way, I strongly suggest you take the time to gather inspiration and make a unique project of your own. Make sure to keep track of your progress with different pictures of each step. It'd be great if you could also explain the choices you've made along the way and tell us if you have any doubts. This will help me guide you better if you need advice. Here are the main steps to follow: The Concept Define your character first: give them a world to stand on and a story to live in. The Drawing Build your drawing from the general to the specifics, starting with basic geometric shapes. Add in details layer by layer until you have the construct you want, addressing problems like perspective, angle, pose, gesture, anatomy, clothing/armor design, and expression.

The Color Palette Build a palette of colors that can tell the audience something about the world and personality of your character. Consider how your character should feel to the audience, and try to reflect these choices in how you lay out your palette.
The Lighting Use lighting to add the sense of drama that is appropriate for your character, referring back to their personality, expression, and story.
The Final Touches When you have compiled your character through these layers of choices and information, consolidate them in rendering. Make conscious choices about where you want the audience to pay attention and where you want to let it recede.
And that's all! I can't wait to see the project you come up with, so don't forget to share it in the forum. You can do so by clicking on "Create your project". I will be more than happy to answer any of the questions you might have along the way! I will try to get back to you as soon as possible. In the meantime, participate in the forum, comment on others' work, and interact with the community! See you there. ”

“Hey, look at you, you made it all the way through. From A to Z, you stuck through all my rants and jibber jabber. And now you're here. As much as I've enjoyed all my own rantings and little stories, I hope you've really enjoyed it too. The course is coming to an end. This is just the beginning for you. With all these tools and toys we've made, you can make your world as big and fascinating as you want. And there's really no end to how many worlds you can make as well. So as is usual to do at the end, let's look back to the beginning at some of those key ideas and principles that facilitate ...”
