About the final project for: Social Media Strategy: Connect with Your Followers

Social Media Strategy: Connect with Your Followers

“Let me start by thanking you for investing your time to learn with me. I hope it’s been an exciting journey, one that you have enjoyed as much as I have. Now it’s your turn to make things happen by starting your own project. Remember to make it simple and concrete, relating it to human emotions and, above all, achievable. At this stage, you are aiming for participation, not quality, that’ll come later. And although it’s easy to try to recreate some of the examples I’ve shown you here, you’ll be way more satisfied to create something new, your own idea. By all means, get as much inspiration as you can from previous lessons but turn that into your own creative project. Follow the next steps to make sure your UGC project is successful: The Idea Choose one idea that will generate participation in one of your social media channels (Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook). To decide the campaign idea that I showed you in Unit 5, I used the brainwriting technique that I taught you in that unit. With the scores of the people who helped me in the process, the idea that won was "Bookshelves - show the place where you keep your books."

The Campaign Choose a format you want your audience to use: words, video, images, etc. Just one! And think: What would make people contribute? What can you do to motivate them? Create three images to be shared in the forum: one outlining the idea for the campaign, another one with the specific post that will launch it, and the third one with a post that will incorporate some of the contributions. In the case of The Book Country, we wanted to inspire people by showing them an example of exactly what we wanted them to do, to share a place in their home where they have their books. We published a post on Instagram with an image and a caption with the following call to action. "Share your favorite book spot at home using #mybookshelf or @mybookcountry to be featured".
People's Response People uploaded amazing photos responding to what we asked them to do in the campaign.
When people upload their photos in response to your campaign if you want to use their photos always ask for permission first, no matter if they have used the hashtag. We have to ask and let them know that we want to use their image. And when you use their image you should specify clearly who the author is.
Now it's your turn. Share your progress with me and the other students in the forum by clicking on the button "Create your project"! I am excited to see what you have come up with! Finally, if you want to continue on this learning path, it is really important to give each other feedback as that’s the most satisfying way to grow. Go to the forums, comment on other students' work, and be ready to interact. Thank you again and I hope to see you soon.”

“Final Project Hello again. We've reached the end of the course. First of all, let me thank you for joining me in this journey about engagement in social media. It's time to review everything that you have learnt in this course to really start your final project. First I explained who I am and some of my main influences. Then we started to talk about engagement, what it is and how I've approached that in the past. Remember that when trying to attract your audience, simplicity is always a must. Then you learnt three very important principles about how to get your audience to interact with you...”
