“Printing Templates In the previous lesson, we learned about setting up our workspace and in this lesson, we'll talk about preparing our patterns. The idea of using patterns in the realm of clay is not unlike you seeing patterns in the context of sewing. Essentially, you're using a template that has a certain amount of information that you use to cut that flat matrix and constitute it into a three-dimensional form. Cristina Córdova is an award-winning ceramic artist from Puerto Rico, who specializes in figurative sculptures that combine ceramic construction techniques with traditional modeling. After receiving a Bachelor of Arts in her home country she went on to earn a Master of Fine Arts in ceramics from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University. Sculpture has spoken to Cristina from a young age and been the medium of her creativity because of the way movement and body language can be expressed through it.

Cristina’s recognitions include two American Craft Council Emerging Artist Grants, several International Association of Art Critics Awards, and a three year artists residency program at Penland School of Crafts in Penland, North Carolina, where she is now based. Her work is also part of a number of permanent collections across the US, and she has given demonstrations at numerous universities around the world.
