“Preparing for Firing In the previous lesson, we talked about developing the surface of our sculpture through the use of texture, color, and pattern. In this lesson, we're going to talk about preparing our sculpture for firing by venting it and making sure it's properly dry before bisque. Once I am ready to relinquish my sculpture and put it through the first firing, I first want to make sure that it's properly vented. Because we added some material onto that core, sometimes there are areas that might become too thick. You don't want any part of the sculpture to be thicker than half an inch,...”
