About the final project for: Character Modeling with Sugar Paste

Character modeling with sugar paste

“We reached the end of the course. I hope you enjoyed it a lot and that everything you learned will help you to model your final project and many more characters in the future. I'm sure they will look amazing and delicious! Before we say goodbye, we are going to review the key phases of the project. It would be great if you showed me a picture of each phase and added a brief explanation about what you have done in each one. I am going to do this review with character 1 that I have modeled during the course. Remember that I also made another character sitting with a guitar, in Unit 4, to teach you to model objects that accompany your characters and other different poses. References and sketch The first step is to look for visual references on platforms like Pinterest to find inspiration in terms of shapes, colors, etc., to create your character. From these references we make the sketch and decide the color palette that we will use. I have left you in Unit 2 the reference sketches that I have used to model my characters.

Modeling After you've practiced modeling basic shapes to master the technique, it's time to start modeling the character. Following the step by step that we saw in Unit 3, I have first modeled legs and shoes, torso and neck, and finally the head and facial expression. In the last phase of modeling I have made the hair and I have assembled the figure in a vertical position.
Presentation As we have seen in Unit 5, I have covered a polystyrene base with fondant. Once finished, I can present my character by placing it on top of it.
Now share your final project with all of us by clicking on "Create your project". Remember to share both the final result of your character and the steps that have led you to it. I am looking forward to seeing your project and giving you feedback. Although I ask for your patience, I will try to access the forum as much as I can and what my professional projects allow me. Finally, I want to invite you to actively participate in the forum, not only sharing your progress, but also giving advice and trying to help the rest of the community. It is sure to be very enriching for everyone. See you on the forum!”

“Final Project We’ve come to the end of this Domestika course. I hope you’ve had fun and learned how to give sweet life to your characters. Before we say goodbye, I’d like to review some key points from the course. Before starting your project, remember to prepare a clear visual reference, the design of your figure, and the colors you’ll use. Another important tip is to review the basic modeling techniques and to take the time to make these shapes as many times as necessary to master the technique. Remember to pay attention to the consistency of the paste so that your models dry properly and...”
