About the final project for: Rendering Photorealistic 3D Scenes in Blender

Rendering Photorealistic 3D Scenes in Blender

“Congratulations! You have reached the end of this Domestika course. It has been a genuine joy sharing my knowledge and experience with you. Thank you so much. I sincerely hope you have enjoyed the course. Now before we end, I'd like to remind you of some of the most important steps we gave throughout the course and that you should remember when you start doing your final project:
Observe, observe, observe! Observation is key if you want to source inspiration from the real world when creating your 3D projects. When in doubt, take a step back from your computer and explore how the natural world works. Then, create your mood board and start to sketch your scene!

Start simple! When beginning your project, don't feel like you need to go insanely detailed right off the bat. Take some time to block out the scene's composition. This will save you an immense amount of time later.
Imperfection is the new perfection! Very few things in the real world are "perfect." We don't often see perfectly smooth surfaces, straight lines, or perfectly rounded edges, so don't have these in your renders! Be sure to use the sculpting, displacement, and texturing techniques I taught you to add imperfections to your project. Even the smallest details, like small bumps and cracks, go a long way in achieving photorealism with your work.
Focus on the lighting! Lighting is key for your work, and it can completely change the mood and feel of your project. I can't stress this enough: take as much time as you need to refine your lighting, as it can make or break your render. Don't feel the need to overcomplicate things with the addition of point or area lights. For most environments, I just find myself using an HDRI and a sun lamp. Experiment with different HDRIs to add different "color splashes" to your overall scene and see how the mood changes. Test out different hues and luminosities with your sun lamp to see how it impacts your scene. Try rotating the HDRI and sun lamp around to see how shadows interact with each other on your 3D terrain.
Polish your work and share it with the world! Don't be afraid to put yourself out there. It really helps you grow as an artist to learn to take criticism and continue to learn more about the software. Revisit old works to see all that you've learned in the interim and revamp your work with your new skills! I love revisiting my old projects to see how I can spice them up with different modeling, texturing, or lighting!
And that's all! Thank you so much for taking part. I can't wait to see your projects! You can share your project with all of us by clicking on "Create your project." Remember to share both the final result and the steps that have led you to it. It would be great if you showed a picture of each step and added a brief explanation about what you have done in each one. If you have any questions, be sure to ask them! I will reply as soon as I can, but in the meantime, I encourage you to interact with each other. Communication fuels creativity. So, don't be afraid to reach out and collaborate with others. But most of all, have fun! See you in the forum!”
