“ Building a Composition Previously when I was drawing the dog, I was working from a single reference photo, but in this lesson, we'll look at building a composition from a number of sketches or a series of various photo references. For this illustration, I wanted to work on an image of lemurs, so I went to the zoo to draw them from life because I wanted to get more of a feel for their movement and habits, and get several sketches, drawing them in different poses and get many photo reference that I could work from.
