“ Choosing a Reference Photo In this lesson, we'll look at things to consider while choosing a reference photo to work from. We'll have a go at drawing an animal's head, in my case, a dog, using different charcoal methods. If you're working from one of your own photos or one you found on the internet, there are some things to consider that will make your drawing much easier, so photos that have strong contrast, so you can see a distinction between the dark and the light areas.
