“The Photo and How to Approach the Portrait This lesson, we're going to talk about how I took the photograph and how I chose the model. In this case, we could choose between different types of lighting. To begin with, having a single source of light is a good thing, because it gives us more contrasting shadows. I plan to have a clear separation between light and shadow and then I'll work on the halftones. Hypothetically, if we had more than one light source, what would happen is that the whole image would look a little flatter. We'd have to focus more on our halftones. That'd be an advanced ...”

Xavier Denia is an artist who has been studying and working with figurative art for more than fifteen years and has been teaching for over five years. He currently works for Barcelona Academy of Art in 2020, one of the largest drawing, painting, and sculpture schools in Europe.
He has participated in collective exhibitions in Italy, the UK, and Spain. In 2019, he was selected as a finalist in the Reina Sofía painting and sculpture competition, in Madrid. A large part of his work can be found in the galleries and rooms at the Barcelona Academy of Art.
