About the final project for: Creative Direction for Music Videos

Creative Art Direction for Music Videos

“Dear student, we have reached the end of the course. For me it has been a totally new and stimulating experience, and the truth is that I have enjoyed it very much, I hope you have too! At the beginning of everything I had many doubts about the final project that I wanted to propose to you. I did not know if it would be feasible for everyone to carry out the shooting of a video clip, but, looking back on my career, I have realized that, in the end, the most important thing is to have a good idea, and that ingenuity is much more important than all the resources of the world. I am sure that you will be able to carry out a personal, unique and powerful idea. I hope this final project will be a challenge, but, above all, I hope it becomes a learning process, where you discover how wonderful the language of the video clip is, the creative freedom it gives you and how exciting a shoot can be. Remember to share your project with everyone; both the final result of the video clip that you have shot and the steps that have led you to it. Now we are going to review the steps that I have followed to make my final project so that you have them as reference or inspiration. Find the idea for the video clip and write the script The first thing is to find your idea for the video clip based on what the song inspires you. Then write a script based on that initial idea.

Conceptually prepare the video clip Create a visual treatment where you capture how the video clip is going to be as we saw in Unit 2 of the course. Also remember to look for the locations and select the casting of actors and / or actresses.
Prepares the technical planning Plan the technical script, draw a storyboard and draw up the shooting plan.
Let's roll! Prepare the material you will need to shoot and organize your team. Then comes the funniest moment. Action!
Edit and export your video clip After shooting is complete, edit the video clip, retouch the color and export the final master.
Show everyone your video clip! Include your video clip in your reel and share it with everyone. Below I explain how.
Remember that it is essential to connect with yourself. Try to build a project that is very personal, tell something you need to tell, honesty is key. The important thing is to discover your own style, your vision, your way of looking at the world and capturing it. For your project to be different from mine, choose a different song, one that is important to you, one that you can identify with, that inspires you to tell a personal experience. Now share your final project in the forum by clicking on "Create your project". Remember to share both the final result of your video clip and the steps that have led you to it. It would be great if you showed a picture of each step and added a brief explanation about what you have done in each one. So I can give you feedback. On the other hand, if in addition to the Domestika community, you want to share your creation with everyone, you can upload photos of them to Instagram with the hashtag #LyonaIvanovaDomestika I hope you have enjoyed the course and I hope I have spread a bit of my passion for the world of video clips. If you have any questions, I'll be here to solve them, I really want to see your projects! If it takes me a while to answer you, be patient, but I promise I will do it as soon as possible. And don't forget to participate in the forum; share your experience, your doubts and your advice, so that we can all learn more and grow as creators. See you soon! ”
