About the video: Introduction to the film script

Overview

“Here you will see the classic movie script, in its use for video games. I will explain the basic elements, such as margins, notation and how to describe scenes, characters and action. This is not a film script course itself, so we will see the main elements without stopping excessively to quickly create your own script. And so far the theory: next you will write your first script. Following the actual process of a selection test that I did myself, in this unit I will give you a briefing to create a small scene to spec , that is , sticking to what the client has in mind. You will wake up that briefing to see what the basic requirements are, and from them you will take the first steps to design that scene and create a structure of who will appear, what will happen and how it will be resolved the action. ”

In this video lesson Víctor Ojuel addresses the topic: Introduction to the film script, which is part of the Domestika online course: Introduction to Narrative Design for Video Games. Learn to tell interactive stories and get started in the world of video games.

I'm going to give you a client brief. I'm using an exact copy from a real one I got. A client is going to ask you to do a spec test,...”

Narrative Designer and Video Game Writer

Víctor Ojuel has been working for years in what is perhaps the smallest niche within the multimillion-dollar video game industry: script writing and narrative design. His job is to tell stories, but in a different way than in all other kinds of media due to the interactive nature of video games.

With a huge list of projects divided between Steam and other distribution platforms, Victor is one of the most prolific video game writers in the world. Temtem, Mighty Poligon, Wildermyth, and DimensionDrive are some of the standout games on which he has collaborated.
