About the final project for: Floral Cake Design: Craft Edible Art

Botanical Cake Design: Craft Edible Art

“Congratulations! You have reached the end of this course. I hope that all the tips and tricks that I have passed on to you will be helpful on your cake design journey; this is just the beginning! Before I say goodbye, I would like to give you a few last tips for the final project. First, look at reference photos that determined your colour palette. Then, decide on colours, proportions, balance and rhythm. Then, sketch your cake composition.

Begin with the centre of the flower, noting how to attach your leaves to form branches. Next, you can use the technique to create marble textures with fondant and cover your cakes. Once you have all your sugar elements ready, arrange your floral creations onto the cake.
My final advice is to be patient. Cake design, like any other discipline, takes a lot of time and persistence. It’s not just about being able to create a realistic flower or leaves accurately. It’s how you’re able to arrange these visual elements in harmony. Also, I suggest you give your cake a main view instead of trying to create an arrangement that is perfect from all angles, especially if your client is on a budget and you’re working with a few elements on hand.
Finally, I’ve shared with you how I take my photos using an iPhone and how I share my portfolio on Instagram. If, in addition to the Domestika community, you feel like sharing your work with the whole world, use #CynthiaIraniDomestika so I can keep track of your creations. Remember to participate in the forum since I will answer your questions and comment on your progress. I also recommend you to engage in conversation with your peers; it fuels creativity! I hope you’ve enjoyed the process of making sugar flowers and cake decorating with me. See you on the forum! ”

Now it's time for you to get your hands dirty and start experimenting. Before I say goodbye, I'd like to give you a few tips to help you complete your final project. Remember, as you ganache, make sure to always reheat your ganache as it gets firmer. Also, make sure to use a higher ratio of chocolate to cream in the summertime and a lower ratio in the winter or cooler times. When you're working on flowers, always make extra peta...”
