“Background and information In this lesson we'll learn how to apply hatching and add contrast to our object to create a greater feeling of volume. We will use a background figure to add contrast, and we will use shadow to simulate the base of the object. Hatching is a technique that allows us to darken one of the walls or surfaces of a volume without the need to apply color. I recommend that you use at least three qualities for the hatching. Rodrigo Chávez graduated with honors and a degree in industrial design from the National Autonomous University of Mexico.
In 2005, he landed a job in one of the industry-leading office furniture companies, Grupo Di, and worked his way up to Chief Designer. He also began postgraduate studies at the Polytechnic University of Milan that same year and earned a master's degree in strategic design. In 2009, Rodrigo returned to Mexico and began collaborating with the design studio La Jabonera where he worked with major brands including Colgate, Comex, Coca-Cola, Bticino, and Landor. He currently collaborates on design projects under the brand Heres Diseño and is head of the design department at the Architecture, Art, and Design School of Monterrey.
