Why You, As a Creative, Should Use TikTok

If you haven't already joined the fastest growing social network in the world, find out what you’re missing

TikTok has quickly become one of the most popular social media platforms globally. It’s positioned itself as an essential space to build brands, especially your own.

Fast, bold, creative, and funny language often scares those who are trying to find a way to embrace it, especially if they are shy or feel like they are not in the appropriate age-group.

However, if you work in the creative field, there are many reasons why TikTok deserves to be included in your social strategy. Today, the photographer, Domestika teacher, and influencer THAT ICELANDIC GUY (@arnulfur) will share some of them.

TikTok will give your work a larger audience

Before you get entangled in the discussion of how popular TikTok is, focus on the numbers. The app has 2 billion downloads worldwide and more than 800 million active users. TikTok's growth is so dizzying that, probably, by the time you're reading this, the numbers will have changed once again.

Building a following on TikTok is easier than growing on any other network

It is easier to grow on TikTok than on any other network, which is an excellent reason to invest more time in it. Its algorithm will push your content frequently and, in a matter of seconds, begins to spread it to a new audience.

Making videos for TikTok takes much less time than producing content for other platforms

Making videos for TikTok is much simpler than making them, for example, for Youtube, where you may need to spend days collecting all the material that makes a video worthy of being published. At least, that's what Arnúlfu says. According to him, "filming the content of a video like those seen on TikTok can take you 15 minutes." The tools that TikTok itself provides make it possible for you to create animations, incorporate music, and modify the speed of a video without needing any extra apps.

You don't have to dance or be funny to succeed in TikTok

Many believe that TikTok is just teenagers dancing, but creators like THAT ICELANDIC GUY, who never dances, have hundreds of thousands of followers. There are also lawyers, doctors, psychologists, and nutritionists who share their specialist advice online without the need for dances or heavy jokes.

Users pay much more attention to TikTok than you think

The average TikTok consumer spends 50 minutes a day on the app, that is, a time similar to what they invest on Instagram or Youtube.

TikTok will allow you to approach a younger audience

THAT ICELANDIC GUY points out that "the average age of people who engage with TikTok is lower than that of all other social networks." While many people point out as a con, it is actually an advantage. "Usually young people discover trends faster, and also create them," he details. "Young people usually leave the platforms when the elderly enter them. That's what happened with Facebook, and it's what's happening with Instagram. TikTok, on the other hand, is in the upward curve, and this means that it allows you to start creating a relationship with your future customers or audience," he says.

TikTok can help you drag more people to your other networks

Most creators are scared when they see that another network begins to replace the one they know. They think they must abandon what they have built up and start from scratch. This is not the case. The goal must be to expand, enhance, and get feedback from all channels; there is no need to abandon one.
