“ Finishing and Assembly Now that you have a few coats of finish on your stool parts and have given them enough time to dry, the final step in this process is to start assembling your stool. To do this, I'll turn my two seat tops upside-down. If you remember, there is a 5 mm gap between the two pieces. To get this consistent, I'll take a piece of stock that I use to make my 5 mm dowels. If you've got leftover stock from your dowel process, that would work perfectly. I'll drop that between the two pieces, I'll slide them up together, and I'll clamp them gently in my vice.
