Introduction to Japanese Sashiko Stitching

j'ai un livre de Sashiko acheté aux USA il y a plus de 20 ans , mon voyage au Japon en tant que créatrice récréationnelle m'a énormément plu, mais voir Atsushi montrer ses techniques artisinales ancestrales ne pouvait être qu'un must. J'ai hâte de mettre mes idées à l'oeuvre.

Although I had followed a preprinted pattern for sashiko previously, this course taught me so much more...kasane, ushin, how to make some patterns, the best needles, thimbles, cloth and how to stitch. I appreciate that I can come back and review the information as needed. And the examples are wonderful. I could use more information on how to stitch some patterns, yet there are many resources with this course. Thank you Atsushi.

A fascinating look at a form of needlework that is both beautiful and useful. In addition, Atsushi continued to stress traditional stories as well as to encourage individual creativity. My previous connection with Japanese culture had always stressed following a traditional pattern and I was pleasantly surprised at the level of creativity he encouraged. Loved the pictures of his gorgeous studio as it represented minimalization as a very high art form.

Atsushi is a very engaging teacher with great passion for his calling which shows in his lessons. He gives a fascinating history and philosophyI of Sashiko. The rhythmin of his stitching is a joy to watch. There were also stunning examples of his work. He explained and demonstrated the practical side of designing and stitching the patterns very clearly. I look forward to starting my own explorations and practice and I will do so with a new appreciation and respect.
