About the final project for: Packaging Design through analogue experimentation

Analogue Experimentation for Packaging Design

“Congratulations! You have reached the end of this Domestika course. Thank you so much for taking part and I hope you've enjoyed it. It's now time to work on your project. This could mean finishing the project you started by completing the course tasks or making a brand new project! Either way, I strongly suggest you take the time to gather inspiration and make a unique project of your own. Make sure to keep track of your progress with different pictures of each step. It'd be great if you could also explain the choices you've made along the way and tell us if you have any doubts. This will help me guide you better if you need advice. Here are the main steps to follow: The Brief Understand your brief and pick out the keywords for your design project. Pay attention to the project goal, the background of the brand, as well as the audience. If you don't have a brief you can always make one up! The Mood Board Start your visual research and create a mood board. It's always a good idea to look at other examples of packaging. How are they using fonts, different paper types, and imagery to highlight their product? There are also many books and websites that can help you get inspired.

The Sketches Using the keywords of your brief as well as your mood board as a reference point, start drawing what comes to your mind. This phase is totally free; it doesn't have to be perfect. Once you've got some rough ideas to realise your project, think about your logo, typography, and colours. The Packaging Design This stage is about experimenting. There are no rules! Play with your brush and ink, charcoal, and linocut to develop a design that appeals to the five senses. Take your time and see which materials and techniques work best for your project.
Once you are happy with your experimentations, scan your selected images and edit them using Adobe Photoshop. Then, create your designs in Adobe Illustrator.
The Presentation Finally, print your design out and create mock-ups. Then, use Adobe Illustrator to put together a presentation for your client.
And that's all! I can't wait to see the project you come up with, so don't forget to share it in the forum. You can do so by clicking on 'Create your project'. I will be more than happy to answer any of the questions you might have along the way! I will try getting back to you as soon as possible. In the meantime, participate in the forum, comment on others' work, and interact with the community! See you there. ”

“Thanks for joining me in this course and taking the time to create a packaging design with analog tools. I hope you enjoyed experimenting and designing and that you feel ready to start working on your project. Remember that you can really make it your own by using different natural materials and tools. Just choose whatever works best for your project. To start, we had a look at the brief and highlighted the keywords for our project. Pay attention to the goal of the project, the background of the brand and the target audience. If you don't have a brief, you can make it your own brief. Then y...”
