“ Stitching the Bands of Color Now, I'll begin by adding bands of color using the satin stitch. For the sections that hit the top of the hoop or any part of the edge of the hoop, I always start at the hoop side. It's the best way to get a consistent border around the piece and it's how I do it, it's not better or worse. I don't start at the end, I usually start a few stitches in.
