About the final project for: Isometric Animation with Illustrator and After Effects

Isometric Animation with Illustrator and After Effects

“Congratulations! You have reached the end of this Domestika course. Thank you for taking part and I hope you feel ready to make your own isometric animations! Before saying goodbye, let's review the necessary steps to complete your project: Choosing the Objects and Buildings to Draw Make sure to go out into the wild and experience your neighborhood and the store you’ll pick. Make some mood boards, keeping your personal perception of the world in mind. Then, make a sketch as rough as you need it. It’s for you and your imagination. Don’t be precious!

Cleaning the Sketch in Adobe Illustrator Using the 3D extrude effect and our beloved grid, clean the lines of your drawing. Basic shapes, the pen tool, and the pencil tool will be key.
Color, Shadows, and Highlights Think about how you can make your drawing stand out with some highlights and shadows. Make sure to keep them in separate layers and play with colors and blending modes.
Creating Textures and Exporting Them as PNGs Use your preferred texturing method to give your illustration a more finished look in Adobe Photoshop. Make sure to use layers and name them properly. Export them as PNGs. Feel free to finish your illustration in Photoshop and export it, or import the PNGs into Adobe Illustrator and get them ready to be animated.
Animating the Illustration in Adobe After Effects Using keyframes and eases, bring your illustration to life. Make sure you make shape layers for the elements with paths that you’d like to play with. Use masks when you want to hide something.
Exporting the Animation to Various Platforms If you plan to share your work on Instagram, export the animation as an MP4 in the H.264 format. For GIPHY, you will need to make a GIF. Upload your final work to the forum and make sure you tag me if you share it on Instagram. I’m dying to see what you guys make!
Make a Sticker to Use on Your Stories After cropping your composition in Adobe After Effects, export it as a ProRes 444 Straight Unmatted. Import that file into Photoshop and export it as a GIF with an alpha channel. Upload it to GIPHY and be part of our sticker gang by using our tag!
Remember to experiment, be playful, and have fun! Share your project with other creatives and post it in the forum. I also encourage you to help and give advice to other students in this course – working together can be very helpful and inspiring. I'll be reviewing your work too, and I'll provide you with feedback as often as I can. Now share your final project with all of us by clicking on "Create your project". Remember to share both the final result of your illustration and the steps that have led you to it. It would be great if you showed a picture of each step and added a brief explanation about what you have done in each one. See you in the forum! ”
