We're attempting to make a realistic drawing and I feel like the grid method is a great way of breaking down your photo reference into manageable parts. There are many ways to do this. You can freehand, by all means, and if you're comfortable and confident enough in your drawing skills. I really like the grid method for a number of reasons.
