About the final project for: Writing Techniques for Selling Ideas

Writing Techniques for Selling Ideas

“Now we have reached the end of this course. Surely you also have something to make known to the world, it can be a brand, a product, a blog or a personal project. For your final project you should write a presentation text and a title / slogan with which you feel comfortable. It can be a biography about you ("about") or a presentation of your project / product. We are going to see the steps that we must follow so that this text is perfect, both in terms of form and content: Write the text You will have to condense the information in about 2 or 3 paragraphs where you expose in each one of them a main idea. Remember that your paragraph should have a maximum of 5 or 6 lines each, and do not forget to be guided by the three key criteria of writing: clarity, precision and correctness. In this way we enhance the main message and eliminate the superfluous. Perfect your writing You can run the auto-checker to check for spelling mistakes, but keep in mind that the checker won't help you fix wrong writing or detect wrong punctuation marks. If you have doubts, you can review the lessons of the course and rely on the additional resources that I have left you in each unit. Use the essential signs that we have seen to correctly articulate your text. Remember that the signs do not only take the necessary pauses, but also make our text well understood. Don't forget to use commas, semicolons, colons, ellipsis and all those signs that will help you make sense of your text. Document creation Once the text is corrected, create the document in which you are going to "encapsulate" it. Try to condense the information on one page, since if it is well organized, it is enough to explain who you are and what you want to promote. Make text boxes, choose an image and import the text into Microsoft Word. Play with the sizes, colors and alignments to generate a well structured page that contains all the information in one visual block.

Giving expression to the writing Today we need to communicate a lot with very little, so you have to generate an interesting and effective text where you apply the graphic and expressive resources that we have seen: bold, capital letters, signs, abbreviations, symbols, etc. These resources will help you enhance your message. Use the highlights or calls to action to give strength to the text and that whoever reads you can expand the information. Give your text visual rhythm by using italics, bold, and different sizes in headlines and highlights. So your "about" text will have a flexible visual structure but at the same time it will be full of force. Remember to use abbreviations to visually impact whoever reads you and that they are spelled correctly.
Spread your message to the world Everything is ready: now you have a text that talks about you and represents you. If you are going to attach it to an email, make sure you address the person or department appropriately using some of the formulas we have seen, since the first impression is on the person who reads you. You should also take care to say goodbye properly. If you address a wide audience (and therefore unknown), remember that 50% of who is reading you is female: do not always (and by default) use the generic male. This is becoming more and more important in communication.
Your time has come. Share your final project with all of us by clicking on "Create your project". Remember to share both the final result of your text and the steps that have led you to it. It would be great if you showed a picture of each step and added a brief explanation about what you have done in each one. So I can give you feedback. Now I do have to say goodbye, but first I want to tell you one last thing. This course has been based on my personal experience when it comes to selling an idea in writing. My three books have been published with this formula: telling the chosen publisher in an A4 who I am and what I can offer. My experience has shown me that this way of presenting ideas and projects works. I would love to see your "capsule" of information on the forum. I also want to invite you to actively participate in it by commenting on the progress of your colleagues. We sure can help each other a lot! It has been a pleasure to accompany you on this path; I hope that this course has helped you to communicate better in writing and that you now have a document with which you feel comfortable and that tells who you are and what you do. Don't be shy… It's time to promote yourself! :) ”

“Final project Now yes, we have reached the end of this Domestika course, But before we go we will review what we have seen. We first saw how to write correctly and I explained how to address our audience to make a good impression.
