What Kind of 3D Projects Can You Create Using Maya?

3D artist Albert Valls Punsich shows us the incredible scope of this powerful software
Albert Valls Punsich (@albert_valls_punsich) specializes in creating 3D digital worlds and modeling and VFX scenarios for film and television. Part of the production company Framestore, he has worked on films such as Avengers: Infinity War, Thor: Ragnarok, and Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.
Below, Albert shows us some examples of projects that you can do with Maya (or other software that allows digital painting and 3D modeling). If you are, like him, passionate about cinema, television, and the creation of fantastic worlds, explore this universe of digital possibilities.
Still life modeling
You can model assets with different techniques, for example, with a cartoonish style. Using this and other methods, you can model all kinds of objects from scratch and make them look both stylized and organic.
Still lifes are an excellent way to get started in 3D modeling because they force you to avoid creating isolated objects and think of them as part of something larger. Look at the example that Albert developed for this project:

Creating environments and scenes
Albert likes to create environments and digital scenes. You can tell an entire story with them if you pay attention to the details that make them unique.
The process for creating these worlds is simple: collect ideas in an initial sketch and then create your stage. Later, you just add all the details that will give the scene its personality.
In this reel, Albert shows some examples of the environments he has created:

Texture and lighting projects
In other projects, the focus can be directed to the textures and lighting. This type of work has different purposes, from purely personal projects to videos for brands and other commercial applications:
