Poly: Google’s Free 3D Objects Catalog
Visit Google's free-for-all library of 3D objects
For a while now, Google has proved to be more than an internet search engine. The Google app can assist us in endless aspects of our daily lives and work, whatever our profession. We won’t go into its (sometimes weird) tech experimentations. Within the design world, Google is already placed as an indispensable tool, thanks to the vast typographic catalog that is Google Fonts. With Poly, one of its more recent offers, it has opened the doors to an infinite catalog of 3D objects.

Conceived as a tool to help creators and developers of Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality, Poly offers an enormous library of 3D objects and backgrounds with Creative Commons license. Anyone can access the items and use them in their projects.

Furthermore, Poly's catalog is constantly growing, as anyone can add new designs to the platform. Adding to the Poly archive is an automatic process if you use Tilt Brush or Blocks to edit pre-existing designs. You are also able to directly upload models of objects in .OBJ and .MTL format.

Poly is not a tool aimed exclusively at designers. Each design is easily accessible from the categories menu, can be explored through the zoom tool, and converted into a moving GIF.
