About the final project for: Dramatic Portraits with Pastels, Collage, and Photoshop

Dramatic Portraits with Pastels, Collage, and Photoshop

“We've reached the end of this course! Thank you for coming along with me on this journey. It is now time to work on your project. This could mean finishing the illustration you started while completing the exercises or you could start a brand new project! Either way, I strongly suggest you take the time to gather inspiration and make a unique project of your own. The purpose of this course is to share my image-making process with you so that you can discover your own unique workflow. Make sure to keep track of your progress with different pictures of each step. It'd be great if you could also explain the choices you've made along the way and tell me if you have any doubts. This will help me understand your creative process and guide you better if you need advice. Here is a recap of the steps you need to follow to create this pastel portrait. Inspiration and Mood Board Make observational drawings and do some visual research so as to create a mood board that will guide you through the image-making process.

Thumbnails and Refined Sketch Create thumbnail sketches then choose one and refine it into a blueprint that you will transfer to the pastel paper.
The Portrait Build the portrait in layers of pastel while focusing on value and color temperatures to develop dynamic skin tones.
The Collage Apply the collage elements to the clothing and background. Create a meaningful environment that will inform the viewer about the special characteristics of the subject.
Digitilization Scan the artwork and create additional digital painting layers that will complement the work created with traditional media.
I am excited to see what you have created! Don't forget to share your project on the forum. You can do so by clicking on "Create your project". I will respond to your posts and questions as soon as possible. In the meantime, I encourage you to take a look at what others created for this project and comment on their posts, too. If you choose to share your work on Instagram, use the hashtag #DominicBoddenDomestika so that I can see all your wonderful portraits. And don't forget to mention my account and Domestika's. My last bit of advice is to find your voice and what it is you want to say. Create work that has your unique fingerprint on it so that you can leave your mark on this world! See you!”

“ Final Project Congratulations, you've reached the end of this Domestika course. Together, we worked on the foundations of design principles and in layers. From inspiration to sketching onto drawing and collage and then into the digital. Thanks for taking the course with me. I am so proud of this work. I'm happy to share these skills with such a talented community. There are a few things to remember while working on your project. Firstly, keep yourself inspired. As an artist, inspiration is your golden ticket. Keep going out onto the streets, look at people, watch movies, and feed your bra...”
