“ Drawing the Face In the previous lesson, we chose the color palette for our portrait. In this lesson, we'll dig right in and start drawing the portrait. I have myself set up so that I have everything I need to get started. I have my pencils completely sharpened. Nearby, I have my box cutter to sharpen and my block of sandpaper to keep a nice point. It is ideal to keep a good point on your pastel pencils because I'll be using the point of this pencil to do all of my blending. My finger won't ever smudge or touch the face.
