“ Preparing the Painting Surface In the last lesson, I showed you how to generate ideas in your sketchbook. In this lesson, we'll prepare the surface to paint on. I like to roll the gesso onto my panel. It gives it a nice and smooth surface as I said before and it goes on nice and smooth. It doesn't huddle up and you don't get weird brush strokes. It glides on smoothly and you get a nice even coat so that it's easier to sand later on. The first thing I'll do is tape palette paper to the table. For when I roll the gesso, the paper won't slide around and move everywhere. The next step I'll do...”
