“ Initial Sketch and Rough Background In this lesson, we can finally start on the production of our portrait. We'll look at how to place the reference on the canvas and crop it. Then we'll do initial pencil tracing of some of the features and make a pass on the background to get that started, too. Let's go. I'll put these two images in a Reference folder, but my main image here, I'll zoom out a bit. I'll just hide the Reference. We're doing a portrait, and, as I say, this canvas here is 16 x 20 inches, which is a 4 x 5 aspect ratio, so when we're done, we'll be able to share it straight awa...”
