About the video: The Main Portrait: Underpainting 1

Overview

“The main part of the project is capturing the likeness of the character. In order to do that, we will need to do some preparation work, which consists in painting the main areas of the character’s face as solid shapes on different layers. I'll show you how to create some basic shapes with the "Lasso Tool", which I think is the quickest way to do it. Then, with a soft airbrush, I'll start working on some of the main shadows of the face.”

In this video lesson Sam Gilbey addresses the topic: The Main Portrait: Underpainting 1, which is part of the Domestika online course: Pop Culture Character Painting in Photoshop. Bring your favorite movie character to life by learning how to paint a realistic digital portrait from scratch.

I'll do a folder for that. But then below that folder, do a new layer called Main Shape. As you just saw...”
