“Analog mood board This lesson is about inspiration. For a better idea to get from the aesthetics of our poster, we look at various old and new design objects. David Leutert
A course by David Leutert
David Leutert is a freelance illustrator and lettering artist based in Berlin. Born and raised in Bavaria, he became interested in drawing at a very young age. However, it was thanks to cartoons, comics, cover art, and skateboard graphics that he realized that this was his true passion. After completing his training in media design, he studied design at the Lutheran University of Applied Sciences, Nuremberg. He then began working over the summer as a T-shirt designer for Adidas, before moving to New York to pursue a master's degree in Illustration at the School of Visual Arts.
In hand typography, his strong suit is contrasting outlines with limited color palettes. To perfect his lettering technique, he also dabbles in the ancient craft of sign painting. His clients include brands such as Adobe, Coach, Dropbox, MTV, and Pepsi, and his work has won awards from the Society of Illustrators, the Art Directors Club, and American Illustration as well as Communication Arts and 3x3 magazines, among others.
