We want to show our readers what's happening without actually telling them. One of the bigger mistakes for writers, especially with a younger audience, is that we think we have to spell out everything that character is feeling. I want you to forget that and trust that your reader is going to understand how your character is feeling by the hints and the clues that you give them along the way.
