“Ideas In this lesson, I'll be talking to you about ideas. There is no secret formula to finding ideas. They can come from literally anywhere and it's your job as a writer to grab those ideas when you come across them. Make notes, keep a track of them. You never know when you might be needing them. To show you how ideas can come from strange places, I wanted to tell you about the idea behind my first novel, "The Goldfish Boy". When I was younger, my older sister had a polystyrene or Styrofoam tiled bedroom ceiling. She used to stand on her bed and jump up and poke her finger into the ceiling...”

However, Lisa went on to pursue a career making radio programmes for the BBC for many years before she became a professional writer.
Inspired by creating a sense of mystery in real-world settings, she has written several books including The Light Jar, Owen and the Soldier, The Boy Who Fooled the World, and her best-selling book The Goldfish Boy. Lisa also gives talks and workshops at schools and book festivals, and has been nominated for numerous awards including the Carnegie Medal and the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize.
