“Planning a Story I don't think it's necessary to plan for your projects. After all, we're writing a piece of around a thousand words. We don't need to plan too much for this. I do think it's useful to share with you how I plan. I learned planning more as I became a writer. I didn't plan my first novel, "The Goldfish Boy". I had an idea, sat down and started writing. I got myself into lots of different tangles. I lost track of days of the week, I wasn't sure where my characters were and I found it hard doing lots of editing and rewriting. However, Lisa went on to pursue a career making radio programmes for the BBC for many years before she became a professional writer.
Inspired by creating a sense of mystery in real-world settings, she has written several books including The Light Jar, Owen and the Soldier, The Boy Who Fooled the World, and her best-selling book The Goldfish Boy. Lisa also gives talks and workshops at schools and book festivals, and has been nominated for numerous awards including the Carnegie Medal and the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize.
