About the final project for: Visual Narrative for Captivating Illustrations

Visual Narrative for Captivating Illustrations

“We have reached the end of the course and I hope that everything you learned will help you to structure your images and your portfolio following a specific purpose. I'm going to review the steps you must follow in order to develop your final project. The first thing you should do is find that personal experience that will make your ideas fly. You can help yourself with a word map to explore them or expand your vision of them. Next, you must transform those ideas into images, for that you must start by establishing your composition by thinking about the position of the camera and the language of your forms. I advise you to do it in thumbnails, since you can see in a general way how the elements behave and interact. Here it is important that you explore infinite possibilities, until you find the one that best suits what you have in mind.

On the composition thumbnail you choose, you can test the type of light that supports your idea and define the colors that reinforce it.
Next you will focus on turning that small sketch into your final sketch, on which you will already have the details of each of the elements of your illustration. With the clean sketch you will start to block the elements so that the color process is more fluid. Once you have locked the scene, you will begin to illuminate it based on the thumbnail that you already had established based on your story. Keep in mind that you must use masks to differentiate and separate the light in the composition.
When you have your scene illuminated, you can work on the atmosphere of your image through color, remember that you must build on what you had defined, since color will reinforce your idea. Focus on maintaining good contrast and image balance.
At the end you must add details such as dust particles or light rays that add value to your illustration and take it to the next level. In this last stage you must re-evaluate your image to ensure that it is achieving its mission.
Keep in mind that ideas can come from anywhere, a memory, someone else's story, a song, etc. But it is your job to practice daily, elaborate them and give them a different perspective, this is what will help you to perfect your portfolio and personal work. Thank you very much for enrolling in my course. I will try to be as active as possible in the forum to resolve your doubts and concerns, support your community and be kind in the comments. Remember that we are all artists making a life with what we dreamed of as children. ”
