About the video: Color Subtraction and Illusion 1

Overview

“In this lesson, you will learn how to perform the color illusion experiments made by Josef Albers in his book Interaction of Color. You will see that "color is the most relative medium in art". We will begin with the experiment of making 3 colors look like 2. In color theory, the illusion created in this experiment is known as simultaneous contrast. When we analyze how this works, we see that the background colors subtract their value (lightness or darkness) from the colors they surround.”

In this video lesson Richard Mehl addresses the topic: Color Subtraction and Illusion 1, which is part of the Domestika online course: Color Theory: Exploration & Application. Learn how to apply color theory in graphic design and create stunning visual effects..
