5 Free Self-Portrait Photography Classes for Beginners

Learn the best techniques experts use to create photographic self-portraits
Self-portraiture is an area of photography that encourages experimentation with techniques in which the photographer is not in complete control of the outcome. It is this element of surprise that makes the self-portrait so unique and mysterious.
For you to learn more about the subject, from camera setup to lighting and posing techniques, we have selected the free classes below.
To view each class, simply click on the title, in red. Enjoy!
Free Class: Camera Settings
In this class, which is part of Krishna VR's (@bykrishnavr) course Conceptual Self-Portrait Photography, you will learn how to set up your camera to start shooting. These are basic tips to ensure that the result of the self-portrait will be excellent.

Free Class: Examine Illumination
In this lesson, you will learn how different natural light situations affect the object we are looking at. Laura Zalenga (@laurazalenga) gives valuable tips for when you need to define at what time of day/in what weather to shoot a project to get the result you expect. This lesson is part of the course The Art of Self-Portraits: Expressing Yourself through Photography.

Free Class: Body Performance
The idea of this class is that you can rehearse different postures to release your body in front of the camera and perform the action of the self-portrait. The expressiveness of the body will be determined by the subject and emotion you choose. This lesson is part of the Experimental Outdoor Self-Portrait Photography course, by Cristias Rosas Chocano (@cristias_rosas).

Free Class: The Session: Learn to pose and act
In this lesson, from the course Artistic Self-Portrait Photography, Cristina Otero (@cristinaotero) gives advice on how to stand in front of the camera for an ideal result. In addition, she talks about the importance of practicing to lose the fear and the importance of acting.

Free Class: Errability
Danny Bittencourt (@dannybbittencourt), photographer and writer, talks about the importance of the error and, mainly, about what to do afterwards. You will learn that the error is not only in the technical construction of the image, but also in the relationship of its author with the result. The error is not a plastic issue, but a conceptual issue. This class is part of the Fine Art Self-Portrait Photography course.

These classes will be open until February 28, 2021. If after that date you want to access the remaining content, you can do so by registering for each course.
