Great Architectural Photographers

Be inspired by classic photographers who have led the way for Tuca Reinés and his professional career
Tuca Reinés (@tucareines) trained as an architect, but his passion has always been photography. His work has been featured in the pages of major magazines such as Casa Vogue, A&D, Elle, Wallpaper and others, for almost three decades. He has presented solo exhibitions and created advertising campaigns for major clients: Maxhaus, Audi, Ermenegildo Zegna, Banco Santander, and Mobil, among others. Among his major awards are two golden lions at the Cannes Lions Festival.

Reinés sees the world today as an avalanche of images to be filtered until you find what inspires you to create your own style. Below, he shares a selection of photographers he admires for their work in the areas of art, lifestyle and fashion, so that you can discover how interior photography has a greater reach than you imagined.
Cristiano Mascaro
One of the greats of photography. The countless books he has written have secured Rio Revelado’s place among Reinés' favorites. They contain extraordinary images from the many photographs he has taken of both important and lesser known works in the city of Rio de Janeiro.

François Halard
Another photographer who has inspired Tuca's career is Halard, whom he got to know through the magazines he used to read. He was attracted by the lightness and simplicity of his images, as well as the courage and daring of his frames which, although often out of focus, are profoundly powerful.

Bruce Weber
This fashion photographer impressed Reinés when he published the book A House is Not a Home, which, without being a work specialized in interior architecture, is impressive for its handling of images. For Tuca, the magic is that this book is free from the vices of architectural photography: it demonstrates that the most important thing is to always look for your own style as an exercise in freedom.

Robert Frank
This European moved to the United States and did an extraordinary job of recording the daily life of that country, almost always starting from a narrative based on the role of the home, and the emotion of a society that was in complete transformation.

Peter Beard
This artist uses photography to frame his art: he writes and paints on the photos he captures. He worked for a long time in Africa and with his work he marked a milestone in the development of the history of photography, putting it in the spotlight and the interest of galleries and museums around the world.
