Etsy Tutorial: 5 tips for positioning your store

Discover these 5 practical tips that will help your Etsy store to be better positioned, with Verónica de Arriba

Etsy is the world's largest platform for selling handmade products and is the site par excellence for craft artists and handmade objects. However, due to its popularity, you have to keep in mind that you will be competing with more than a million users to get a spot in your customers' shopping carts.

Verónica de Arriba (@_depeapa) is the creator of the brand Depeapa, an online store where she sells her own accessories and decorative items. Her designs have appeared in magazines like Harper's Bazaar, Elle Decor, Frankie magazine or Kireei and in this tutorial she teaches us 5 essential tips to better position your store on Etsy. Don't miss it!

5 tips to position your store on Etsy

1. Use keywords

Veronica recommends that you use and repeat keywords associated with your product, both in the title and in the description and tags.

In addition, although Etsy gives you facilities to put your store in any language and there is an automatic translator, it is recommended that you put the language of the store in English and as a secondary language in Spanish. The reason? The potential customer of this marketplace is American and sometimes the automatic translations can fail.

2. Label your products well

Another fundamental tip is to take into account the correct labeling of your products. The platform allows you to place up to 13 labels, use all of them and if they are composed, much better. If you don't know what words to use, Verónica de Arriba recommends that you ask family or friends what words they would use to describe the object in question.

It is also important to label your products by category, color, style, room where it will be used or the occasion or holiday when it will be needed.

3. Take good photos of your product

Product photos are the first thing the customer will see, so it is advisable to take several photos from different planes, with props or even of the packaging. In addition, Etsy allows you to upload small videos of your products, so do not hesitate to use it, since the platform will position better those that have audiovisual options.

4. Have a good product assortment

A good assortment of products and a full store will make Etsy position you better. For that, especially if you are just starting out, Veronica recommends that you make variations of a product that sells very well.

5. Take care of customer service

Finally, it is recommended that you take care of customer service. Etsy ranks better the stores that meet shipping deadlines and penalizes those that close, either for vacations or other reasons. For this reason, Verónica advises you not to close the shop, but to leave a warning on a banner and in emails that the product will arrive late. Finally, communication with the customer is fundamental, so reply to their comments.
