Upcycling with Sashiko-Inspired Embroidery
Third Patch Project 1
A course by Kate Ward , Embroidery designer, artist, and educator
About the video: Third Patch Project 1
Overview
“We will complete the third patch using the Komenohana zashi (rice flower stitch). I'll pin the patch in place on the inside of the jeans and draw the grid on the outside of the fabric. If repairing a pair of jeans or garment that has multiple patches, it is beneficial to ensure that your patches over lap, or that the stitches connect them. This ensures a really strong patch (otherwise the fabric becomes very weak between the patches).”
In this video lesson Kate Ward addresses the topic: Third Patch Project 1, which is part of the Domestika online course: Upcycling with Sashiko-Inspired Embroidery. Learn the traditional Japanese technique of sashiko embroidery and create sustainable garments with Kate Ward.
