“When you're working on your own illustrations, feel free to make those kinds of decisions. You can choose to omit things, you can choose to add things. It's your drawing. Don't forget that these shadows carry on over into the plants as well. They don't just end at the garden. In the image you can see that there's some darkened shadows both coming from the tree on the left side and from these bushes themselves. So I'm finding that this light wash is actually a little too light. That's going to actually work out well because this will help with the softness of the shadows that we're painting ...”
