“ Painting Each of the Objects and Shadows As I'm continuing on, you might notice that the brushstrokes... the paint is lighter than it was with my initial wash. The reason I do that is first, it creates some depth with that darker background and then the lighter strokes over it. I like some of that darker background from the initial wash to show through a bit. It also grounds the painting a bit. If it was all these bright light colors, the values would be very washed out and the painting would be so bright, the eyes wouldn't know where to rest, I guess, in the painting, so I like to keep s...”
