“ The Final Layer In this lesson, I'll focus on the final touches of my painting, which are the darkest darks and the lightest lights. This is my favorite part of the painting because it gives the painting life. I know when I mentioned before that gouache tends to dry darker. I also failed to mention the darkest darks tend to dry lighter. That's what makes gouache a bit tricky. When you're working with your gouache, you might notice after you've gotten to this point, that those darkest darks don't look as dark as they did when you were first putting them on.
