Do the drawing in pencil and analyze the planes, light, and composition using thumbnail sketches.

Paint each part of the painting aiming to finish as you go. • Block-in: Start with an initial layer of blocking. • Underpainting: Paint a monochromatic underpainting. Let your painting dry for at least one day after it is done. • Color pass: Work from back to front, starting with the sky and going all the way to the foreground.
