About the final project for: Landscape Oil Painting with Plein-air Techniques

Landscape Oil Painting with Plein-air Techniques

“We've reached the end of this course! Congratulations! Thank you for following me on this journey. It is now time to work on your project. This could mean finishing the painting you started while completing the exercises or you could focus on a brand new project! Either way, I strongly suggest you take the time to gather inspiration and make a unique project of your own. Make sure to keep track of your progress with different pictures of each step. It would be great if you could also explain the choices you've made along the way and tell me if you have any doubts. This will help me understand your creative process and guide you better if you need advice. These are the main steps to follow: Thumbnail Sketches Choose the scene you want to paint. Do the drawing in pencil and analyze the planes, light, and composition using thumbnail sketches.

Studies Organize the value structure and the colors with a small value and color Study.
The Painting Tone your canvas and begin the project in four layers. Paint each part of the painting aiming to finish as you go. • Block-in: Start with an initial layer of blocking.
• Underpainting: Paint a monochromatic underpainting. The grey tones of the underpainting will prepare the values for the future layer of colors. Let your painting dry for at least one day after it is done.
• Color pass: Work from back to front, starting with the sky and going all the way to the foreground. When you complete the color pass in the whole painting (which can take you one or many sessions, depending on the size of your canvas and the pace of your work) allow the painting to dry for a week, then come back to paint the final layer.
• Overpass: In the revision pass, add some final glazes, scumbling, and impasto. Work in blocks of color to finish defining the atmosphere of the scene and finish your project.
I can't wait to see what you have created, so don’t forget to share your project on the forum! You can do so by clicking on "Create your project". I’ll be checking in from time to time to look at your posts and answer your questions, but the forum is also an amazing opportunity to give and receive feedback from fellow creatives. Get involved with your peers! I hope to hear from you soon. Bye!”

“ Final Project First of all, I want to congratulate you on completing this course. I also want to take a moment to thank you for choosing me as your teacher to guide you through these steps. Don't forget to complete each step at a time. Go slow, begin with your idea and composition, go through thumbnail drawing sketches, then blocking, underpainting, and complete your painting from back to front until the end. I want to encourage you to come and participate in each other's work and interact in the Forum and in this community that we created in this course. I want to encourage you to do you...”
