About the video: The First Layer: Block-In
Overview
“If you wish to slow down the process of cracking, inevitable with oil paintings, it's important to work in layers. It is the “Fat over Lean” rule. To follow this process, I will start with an initial layer of blocking, which I will do directly on the canvas using Raw Umber. ”
In this video lesson Diana Buitrago addresses the topic: The First Layer: Block-In, which is part of the Domestika online course: Landscape Oil Painting with Plein-air Techniques. Learn how to paint atmospheric landscapes that capture natural light using plein-air techniques.

Remember I showed you, or I said before, that we were going to make a half and half medium so that's why I asked to have one or two jars, so combine solvent and oil of your preference. I'm using Galkyd Lite because it dries faster, but you can use lins...”
