About the final project for: Naturalistic Animal Drawing with Graphite Pencil

Naturalistic Animal Drawing with Graphite Pencil

“Congratulations! You have reached the end of this Domestika course. Thank you so much for taking part and I hope you've enjoyed it. It's now time to work on your project. This could mean finishing the illustration you started by completing the course tasks or making a brand new project! Either way, I strongly suggest you take the time to gather inspiration and make a unique project of your own. Make sure to keep track of your progress with different pictures of each step. It'd be great if you could also explain the choices you've made along the way and tell us if you have any doubts. This will help me guide you better if you need advice. Here are the main steps to follow: The Reference Image Find the right reference image to base your sketch on. The Initial Sketch Draw a draft sketch to close in on your final lines.

Refining the Linework Build the sketch up – layering creates the best results. Take your time, there's no rush. Enjoy the process! Remember to watch out for smudging with your own hand. I recommend placing a piece of scrap paper under your hand to avoid this. And don't forget to keep looking at your reference.
Details and Textures Add depth and interest to your piece by sketching in the details and textures. Move between the different pencil grades according to the effects that you want to achieve.
The Photograph Once you're happy with the piece, use the tips I shared to capture a top-quality photograph which you can use to share your achievement with the world. And that's all! Going forward, I encourage you to use the techniques you've learned to create more drawings of the wonderful creatures we share the planet with. This can be a beautiful way to become more aware of the world around you. I can't wait to see the project you come up with, so don't forget to share it in the forum. You can do so by clicking on 'Create your project'. Remember to share both the final result and the steps that have led you to it. It would be great if you showed a picture of each step and added a brief explanation about what you have done in each one. I will be more than happy to answer any of the questions you might have along the way! I will try to get back to you as soon as possible. In the meantime, participate in the forum, comment on others' work, and interact with the community. See you there!”

“ Final Project Thank you for taking this course. I hope you enjoyed it and it encourages you to create some wonderful drawings. For your final project, you'll create a wonderful drawing of an animal. For mine, I created a panda, but it's up to you what you would like to draw. We started by looking at natural history illustration and that amazing side of art. Then, we looked at various materials you can use or optional materials that you can also use. Then, we also did some warm-up exercises. Then we moved on to some exercises that involved looking at light and shade, tone, depth, texture, ...”
