“ The Sketch In this lesson, we'll start to sketch our composition. I prepared my paper in the same way I did in the last lesson. If I was working on canvas, illustration board, or something a bit thicker, I'd probably prime it first with a layer of gesso or acrylic but as this is watercolour paper, we'll make the most of that texture so we can start working straight here. To begin with, I'll take my ruler and pencil. I prefer working with a mechanical pencil because it's precise and you don't have to sharpen it.
