“ Influences In this lesson, I'll share with you some of my artistic influences, the artists and the artistic movements that I went back to throughout my work. One of the artists I studied at school was Edward Hopper, an American realist who fascinated me by the way he captures lights and how it falls through windows, buildings, or solitary figures in a quite cinematic composition. I love that cinematic composition. I love how his artworks capture a moment of place and time. They're realistic but not too much. He's not striving to replicate a photo or anything. After spending the majority of childhood painting and drawing, Mike studied art at high school before enrolling in arts college, and earning a BA in Creative Arts from University. After graduating, Mike moved to London to pursue a career in graphic design.
Since then, Mike has worked with brands including Arsenal FC and Bonhams Auctioneers, and his work has been featured at exhibitions including Royal Tunbridge Wells Art Society Summer Exhibition (2022), South East Open Art Studio (2022), and the Art Escape Exhibition (2020). Mike also shares his work with 14K followers on Instagram.
